Data craft — seeing what others skip
Visualization and studio work aimed at clarity and surprise — not another default chart theme.
The problem
Default charts hide the interesting question. Many “data products” optimize for looking busy.
I care about seeing — choosing a visual language that makes the right tension obvious, and building tools (DataKing and related studios) that support that habit.
The approach
This story is the v1 home for the data-viz lane. Mental helpers stay on the coverage board as a teased domain for a later deep page — so the rotation does not forget the human side while this page carries the visual craft.
The craft
- Prefer one clear question per view over a wall of metrics.
- Design studios and tools that make iteration cheap — change the encoding, keep the data honest.
- Treat atmosphere and typography as part of comprehension, not decoration bolted on.
- Same publishing discipline as the rest of the portfolio: tease on LinkedIn, depth here, walkthrough on request.
The outcome
Proof that I do not only ship agent systems and hunt tools — I also care how information lands for a human reader.
